Enjoy angling on our well stocked lakes
There can be few places quite like Clawford to get away from it all and enjoy a day’s world-class fishing. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, our lakes are home to an incredible variety of fish including tench, rudd and carp up to 32lb. (You know it’s a good sign when you may even be joined by a kingfisher on your rod.) If that’s not enough, less than 30 minutes away, Bude offers some of the very best sea fishing in Cornwall.
At just over two acres in size Clawford Lake is simply stunning! This is our specimen carp lake with the largest fish a common called ‘Arnie’. There are around ninety carp in total averaging 18lbs with a good head over 20lbs. The amazing row of White Willow trees on the far side are a great spectacle and really connect you with such a beautiful location. The fishing is challenging but high quality with less than 10 swims on the lake. Clawford has some great features to find which the fish love such as bars, plateau’s, reed beds and three islands. It has a maximum depth of twelve feet and a mixture of silty areas and firmer spots. There is also a handful of Perch to over 3lbs. Good quality boilies and pellets are the best approach for a few bites.
