Fun and adventures in the fresh air
There is nothing more refreshing than time in the great outdoors, and no better way to learn about the natural world than from our experienced on-location Rangers. Our programme of Ranger activities which take place on Wednesdays and Sundays during school holidays is designed for adults as well as children. It is a great opportunity to learn real bushcraft skills, like constructing a shelter using materials from the forest floor, building a fire or making tea from nature’s own larder. Your friendly ranger will also teach you the names of the forest plants, animals and minibeasts, how to identify woodland mammals from the signs they leave, and how to get help in an emergency if you are camping in the wild, as well as a host of other fabulous nature facts and tips.
Guests will be invited to pre-book free of charge Park Ranger sessions in advance of their stay.
Busy bushcraft activities are not for everyone, so we’ve designed some outdoor sensory experiences that allow you to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the fresh air in a more peaceful way. Whether you create a piece of artwork from natural materials or take part in a Ranger-led group walk on the estate, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the natural world, your sense of wellbeing will be enhanced by the experience. There might even be the chance to gather with others at the end of your walk to swap experiences around an open fire and toast a marshmallow or two.
